In-Depth Class Descriptions- Beginning Writing

Beginning Writing is a class that will inspire a love of writing in students, by practicing writing in different ways, without a huge emphasis on punctuation and spelling (though those will be went over a little bit every week). 
We will learn about essay writing, story writing, and poetry. Every week, we will work on one writing project of the student's choosing.
This will be a lot of fun! Writing is one of my very favorite things to do. Getting your thoughts, feelings, and ideas on paper is the most exciting thing I can think of. I am really happy to have the opportunity to share my passion with others.

Recommended Age: 8-12

In-Depth Class Descriptions- American Constitution

The American Constitution is a class designed to help students get a basic understanding of the American government. We will go over the entire Constitution, plus the amendments. As we go, students will keep a journal of the Constitution, where they can write how each part is important, and the basic summary of each section.
We believe this one is especially important, because it is every citizen's duty to understand exactly how their nation is supposed to function, so they can protect it and nurture a love of their nation.
Supplies needed:
The Constitution of the United States of America
Notebook and pen (provided by the mentor.)

In-Depth Class Descriptions- Shakespeare

For our Shakespeare class, we will learn how to love, understand, and apply the works of William Shakespeare. We will read, write about, memorize, and practice performing some of his works, varying according to the students' choices.

Bigger projects that we will be doing include:
Presenting on a play of the student's choice,
Presenting a piece from a play (or a sonnet),
Writing poetry.

The only supplies needed are The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and a notebook and pen. I will provide the notebook and pen.
The cost of this class is $60.
The recommended age is 12+.

In-Depth Class Descriptions- Beginning World History

Beginning World History is obviously not very detailed. We won't go over the entire world's history, because that would be impossible while having a fun class that would be truly beneficial. Rather, we will cover a few main events and focus mainly on the interests of the student.

Over the semester, we'll do activities to help us step into the time period we are learning about. The student will have one presentation to give on an individual or group of their choice.

The supplies we will use are:
The Story of the World by Susan Wise Bauer (the whole series, not just the first one)
A Little History of the World by E.H. Gombrich
A notebook and pen, provided by the mentor.

The reason I chose these books is that they are fun, brief, and very interesting. I myself am partial to A Little History of the World, as it is the first history book that I could barely pull myself away from reading, because it was too interesting. The Story of the World is what I used to use, and my little brother still uses. It was always very useful.


This class is recommended for children ages 8-11, but even if you are older you are certainly welcome to enjoy this class.

Class Scheduling

Good afternoon!
It's a lovely day over here in my area. Perfect for working on setting up classes and studying. :)
I don't believe I've explained the set-up of classes, and what the schedule will look like.

Class Schedule
Every week, we will have an hour or two (depending on the student) for each class. So, if a student took Beginning Writing, American Constitution and Piano, they could have 6 hours as the most, 3 at the least, or somewhere in the middle, such as 4.
The reason we do not have a set time for each of our classes is that we believe each student has different needs, and different times are more effective for different people.

Mentoring vs. Teaching

What is Mentoring?
 One thing that I want to clarify about these classes is that we provide mentoring, rather than just teaching. While I will use both of these terms interchangeably just out of habit, what I really mean to express is mentoring.
While a teacher is somebody who gives information and conducts tests and such to attempt to give a student knowledge, a mentor is somebody who is truly passionate about what they are sharing, and the people that they are sharing with. Where a teacher would simply give an assignment, a mentor would offer assistance and be there to answer questions and inspire. A mentor is passionate, while a teacher isn't necessarily.
Mentoring is so much higher than simply teaching. It is giving your best efforts to try to help these people that you not only teach, but love and value. Our mission is to truly mentor the genius that each and every one of our students possess, so that they can make a positive difference in this world.

Class Meetings

How Do Online Classes Work?
I have talked to a quite a few people who don't understand how classes online could possibly work. It is an interesting idea, and I didn't quite understand before I started online classes myself. I went to and currently Leadership Education Academy, which uses Elluminate online classrooms.
Ninniachel Mentoring will, at least for this year, use an online video chat program, such as Skype, to set up meetings with each student individually. This way, the mentor and student can interact with each other, although it might be a little more limited than meeting with each other in person.

This is a great option for people who can't find somebody like Ninniachel Mentoring near enough to them to allow meeting in person, or for people who don't feel comfortable with meeting in person. This option is available for every class except piano.


How Do In-Person Classes Work?
We will arrange meeting places on a case-by-case basis. For some it might be in their house, for some it might be somewhere else.

Blog Privacy

Good afternoon!
Just to clarify, at the moment this blog is not set to private, because I want people to be able to read it and decide if they would like to take classes with me.
When the classes start, though, I'm going to set the blog privacy to only people who I invite, because I'm going to have this be a place where people can post any assignments they want to share, things they want to discuss, and any questions about assignments they might have. I don't want the whole world to be able to read these things, because I believe they need to stay fairly private.
The Facebook page is going to be more general.

Good afternoon!
This is an introductory post about Ninniachel Mentoring.
Every year, from June to September, Ninniachel Mentoring is going to have personalized, one-on-one mentoring in a variety of subjects. The reason we are doing this is that I, the founder, strongly believe that it is my responsibility, as a human being, to help others to find their mission and fulfill it.

This summer we are starting classes on the third week of June, and ending in the first week of September. The reason we are doing this is so that people who attend a school during the other months can still attend these mentoring sessions. I earnestly hope that you take advantage of this opportunity.

The Story of the Founding of Ninniachel Mentoring-
I have always loved learning. At age three, I started reading, and I've loved it ever since. I also love other sorts of learning, such as experiencing things, listening, and writing.
Last year, I started to think to myself about what I could do to share what I have learned. After all, a gift isn't any fun if you don't share it with people. So I contemplated starting mentoring people in things which I have some knowledge about. I put it off though, thinking it far too difficult for a young woman like me. Then, though, I found that doing difficult things could be worth it. And in this case, it definitely is worth it.
So I've been taking entrepreneurship classes to prepare me for this. The fruition of my efforts is coming to you all this June.

The reason I named it "Ninniachel" is that my middle name is Iris, and ninniachel  means iris in Elvish. Then I did some research and found out that an iris represents exactly what I want my business to represent: wisdom, hope, faith, and courage.

Who can enroll in Ninniachel Mentoring?
I normally discourage students under eight years old, because they aren't usually developed enough for classes. However, I will be willing to talk about that on a case-by-case basis.
Other than that, though, I accept everybody. As long as you're ready to work for your own education, I'm willing to work with you.
